STIR
It was a hot Sunday afternoon and while my doggie was getting a nice grooming, Dan and I decided to pay Milk a visit. We were not disappointed. It was the perfect treat for a hot day in Los Angeles. So perfect that perhaps all of Los Angeles must have felt the same way since there was a line out the door curving around the corner. It was worth the wait.

Meanwhile, all I could say was "mmmmm" while taking this photo.

Meanwhile, all I could say was "mmmmm" while taking this photo.

There were so many options from macaron ice cream sandwiches to ice cream sundaes to cake slices to cookies to ice cream scoops to ice cream cakes to milkshakes and the list goes on. After waiting 20 minutes in line staring at the menu for most of the time and almost drooling over the display (thank goodness for sneeze guards, right?), we got to the front of the line and still hadn’t made up our minds. But we just went with our gut instincts- for me it was the Blue Velvet Macaron ice cream sandwich and for Dan it was the Espresso a la Mode.

Milk blue velvet macaroon ice cream sandwich

The Blue Velvet macaron sandwich was milky, the perfect sweetness, and blue. The macaron itself was chewy and delicious. The ice cream didn’t melt fast either so I had time to savor and enjoy it. I took a bite and as I was focusing on taking a picture of the masterpiece, all I could do was say “mmmmmmm!!” Dan laughed. This was my first experience with blue velvet and I’m a fan, but I still love you too, red velvet!

We ordered the Espresso a la Mode with cookies and cream ice cream and toffee ice cream instead of vanilla. Substitutions are totally allowed which was awesome. This sundae was reminiscent of an affogato with two shots of espresso, chocolate sauce, hazelnuts, whipped cream dark chocolate pearls, and of course ice cream! This was a delicious pick-me-up and by the end of it I was literally drinking it. And yes, I pretty much finished both. Dan was okay with it…I think.

STYLE
Blue is honestly the toughest color to match with a Stir because there are not that many blue foods. Am I right or am I right? Blueberries are not a bright blue and when you blend it up, it turns purple. Blue shelled crab…not blue when cooked. Blue corn tortilla chips, more purple than blue. So, I was REALLY excited to see the blue velvet macaron because I immediately thought of the perfect Style to match it with.

This maxi is comfortable, versatile, and fantastic for the summer. The bottom has a bit of a transparent effect with two slits on either side, which makes the dress edgy and fun. There’s also a built-in belt which is key with looser maxis so they cinch you at the waist and don’t look too muumuu-ish.

Thanks for reading and please contact me or email me with any ideas for blue colored Stirs! I’d love to get some new ideas to match some of my favorite blue Styles I’m dying to feature! Also in the spirit of blue, GO WARRIORS!
