0-3 Month Favorite Baby Items
I can’t believe it’s already been 11 weeks since the QT Twins were born! We have been loving parenthood so far and I hope that this post can help simplify the daunting task of narrowing down new stuff for your new baby(ies). When we first started to buy things for the twins’ arrival and put together our registry, we really had no idea what we needed and what items would be used everyday.
In an attempt to have a minimalist baby lifestyle, we wanted only what we would need since our home does not have much storage. Let me tell you, as much as we’ve tried to be minimalistic, we’ve somehow already acquired more than we need. The up-side of that is that we have had the opportunity to try a lot of different products and here is a list of our favorite items so far that we use regularly, if not daily!
These have given us so much peace of mind and actually helped us tremendously during a choking episode shortly after getting home from the NICU. As NICU parents, we were so used to having our babies hooked up to monitors and being able to refer to their vitals at all times, so these sock monitors were a comforting transition for us to make sure they are okay.
Dan researched the best pump for me and got me the hospital grade Medela Symphony pump as a rental through our insurance (check to see if it’s available for you). They used this at our hospital, so it was great to get trained with it from the start and also to pump in the NICU when we visited. This is the best pumping bra I’ve tried so far because it creates the best suction wny ith how tight it is. I have both the L and M, but the L is a more comfortable fit. You could also nurse while pumping by unzipping the center halfway.
This is our side by side stroller that rides like smooth butter and has a really tight turning radius despite its size. I love how sturdy it is with all-terrain tires - with this stroller I know the twins are secure and safe. It fits best through regular doorways when using the bassinets versus the car seats - when we go to their doctor’s office, we do need to remove one car seat in order for it to fit through the tight door frame.
Something we didn’t know was that newborns are not really a fan of car seats because they have to be strapped in so tightly. We chose these for their safety features and because they fit on our stroller frame. They’re easy to click in (keep in mind the base is pretty heavy when bringing the whole set into the NICU for the Car Seat Test), the cushion feels comfy, and I love the built-in magnetic cocoon so we don’t need to use car seat covers to shield them.
